Can destiny be changed?

Bible passages:
1Chron 4:9-10, Isa 38:1-6, Deut 9:4-6, Gen 15:18-21, Exo 7:3, Gen 45:4-5, Num 13:1-33, Gen 25:23

Discussion 1:
What is destiny?
According to the dictionary, it the events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future.
In our discussion destiny was divided into 2 aspects: destiny that can be changed and destiny that cannot be changed.
With destiny that can be changed, God gave us free will to choose but we need to be mindful that our choice might change our destiny whether good or bad.
Jabez’s mother named him “Jabez meaning I gave birth to him in pain”. He prayed to God to bless him, and enlarge his territory. Also for God to be with him, keep him from harm and free him from pain. And God granted his request.
Our destiny is in our own hands and the action we take can affect our destiny.
The story of 12 spies Numbers 13:1-33. Ten of the spies changed their own destiny when they gave report that disheartened the Israelites by saying the people who live in the land that God promised are powerful. They went further by saying we can’t attack the people for they are too strong. Only Joshua and Caleb gave good account and they encouraged the Israelites that they can certainly conquer the land. Joshua and Caleb got to the promised land but the other 10 spies perished in the wilderness.
There are other examples in King Hezekiah’s life, God added 15 years to his age after praying to God Isaiah 38:1-6
God can change negative destiny to positive if we surrender our lives to Him.
Destiny that cannot be changed are initiated by God Himself. The story of Esau and Jacob, God had planned that the youngest will be stronger Genesis 25:23.
Abraham and his descendants were promised a land before Abraham gave birth to Isaac. Deut 9:4-6 stated that it is not because of the Israelites righteousness or integrity…
We also talked about not taking the grace of God for granted when we have the opportunity to choose.
The calling of prophetess Obadare was mentioned, he initially refused the calling of God. He went blind repented and God used him mightily in His ministry.

Discussion 2:
Discussion on people migrating from one country to the other. And whether destiny could be affected as a result of such move.
We touched on the fact that destiny can not always be clear or revealed but whatever we do we pray that God has a hand in it. Destiny is unknown, we need to surrender our lives to God and pray that we work in the accordance of His will. Destiny is sometimes linked to God’s plan in our lives for example Joseph’s story life. We don’t know what God wants to bring out of a situation. We could be at the centre of God’s plan. Not about ourselves but GOD.
Migration or jobs are physical things that are not directly linked with destiny. Destiny need to be defined by linking it to the purpose of why one is created. God’s purpose of creating us is divine. God’s purpose of creating us is to have a relationship with Him. Sin changed destiny - Adam and Eve.
Destiny is to enjoy God and have a relationship with Him. Holy Spirit gives the ability to know His plan for us. We therefore need to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Our purpose in life is to fulfill the will of God. Destiny is like a package in the hands of God.
A lot of people that does not have Christ; their destiny changed. Doing things according to Christ’s will; is how to measure destiny.  Destiny is to reign with Christ and be with Him in heaven. Destiny is to inherit the kingdom of God. Destiny is like being on a journey and one need to reach a destination. During the journey, one can meet a lot of things like challenges; whatever happens on one’s journey is destiny. Destiny is either heaven or hell. Christ Jesus is in our destiny. Christ Jesus is the only One that can help us to reach our destination.
Jesus is the only One that can give satisfaction.

God will continue to help us all.

Praise God
